In the Southern Costa Blanca, Torrevieja is the main town where the vast majority of beaches have been awarded the EEC Blue Flag Award.  The Blue Flag Award denotes cleanliness making it an ideal place to settle down for a relaxing retirement or for that superb holiday home.

For those of you interested in a broader variety of activities when you are considering buying a property on the Costa Blanca, this area has a lot to offer with a wide range of health spas, leisure facilities, excellent golf courses, to a championship standard and crystal clear waters which allow you to enjoy every water sport imaginable.

The clear blue waters and stunning underwater scenery make it a diver's paradise. You can also watch the setting of the sun whilst having a dip in the cool blue waters which is an experience not easily forgotten.

Benidorm is located in the Spanish region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. In 1953 it was a tiny fishing village unheard of. Now Benidorm is capable of lodging 5 million visitors a year. Benidorm is literally bursting with life - for energetic types who can beach bash all day and party all night, there's no better place.

Situated 60 kilometres north of Alicante's El Altet airport, Benidorm is easily accessible.

The distinctive skyscrapers are this town's trademark and they dominate the skyline for miles around. Yet you can drive just 20 minutes inland and find yourself in some of the most beautiful mountainous countryside that Spain has to offer.

There's a fantastic variety of entertainment which comes in every form imaginable - and it's round the clock in high season. Whether you want top class international cabaret acts or bar room karaoke, you'll find it here.

Down at the beach there are water sports, glass bottomed boats, banana rides, activity rafts and ferry trips. And on the outskirts of the town there are some major attractions for good value family days out. There's Spain's biggest theme park, Terra Mitica, a huge water park and a wildlife and seaworld centre.

Alicante city is at the heart of the Spanish region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. This thriving cosmopolitan city has three thousand years of history behind it but has entered the 21st century as a leading centre of commerce, culture and tourism. Today Alicante is the second largest city in the Valencian community with a population of more than a quarter of a million.

With its seven kilometres of golden sand, its beautiful seafront promenades, excellent shops and restaurants and wealth of sports and entertainment Alicante is a major magnet for Spanish and foreign holidaymakers alike.

Altea is located in the region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. This is without doubt one of the most charming towns to be found on Spain's "White Coast". If you want all night clubs and the bright city lights on your holiday, give Altea a miss. This town is a holiday haven for the more discerning tourist who will be captivated by its medieval cobbled streets, its picture book old quarter and the delights of its palm-fringed seafront esplanade. It's easy to understand why Altea became a Bohemian centre for musicians, artists and writers from all over Europe when they first discovered its delights back in the early 60s. You'll find a fascinating array of tiny shops offering exquisite local crafts, paintings and gifts. There are top class restaurants where you can enjoy the local seafood and rice dishes as well as some excellent international cuisine. Down at the seafront you'll find a series of pebble and shingle beaches where the full gamut of water sports is available during the summer months. The seafront promenade is also the venue for the huge Tuesday market, one of the biggest of its kind on the Costa Blanca. It's the place to pick up some great bargains (Moroccan rugs, cheap clothing, ceramics etc) along with some highly suspect "designer" watches, T-shirts and sunglasses.

Guardamar, on the Costa Blanca, is surrounded by two large and beautiful natural salt water lakes which form the "Salinas de Guardamar" and are an official Spanish Nature Reserve. The concentration of salt and warm temperatures, combine to endow Guardamar and nearby areas with a particularly healthy micro-climate, recommended by doctors for its beneficial properties. Bathing in the salt lagoons is also becoming popular for many medicinal reasons. The climate in Guardamar makes it an ideal location for year round holiday activities. On average, Guardamar enjoys 320 days of sunshine per year and an average daily temperature of 17°C. Temperatures in July and August are typically 30°C.

The visitors can enjoy water sports at their best: windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing, water skiing, and more. But the options certainly don't end here. At the local municipal sports complex, you'll find an indoor football field, frontón tennis, tennis courts, swimming pools, basketball and handball.

Torrevieja village has received many awards, such as being recognised among the top environmentally-minded municipalities in Spain. Nestling between two large salt lakes and the Mediterranean, the old fishing village of Torrevieja has grown to be the most important town in the area, with impressive plans for further development of the infrastructure. The city of Torrevieja lies 50km south of Alicante and is ideally placed within 30-40 minutes of both Alicante and Murcia airports. In recent years, new motorways have made access to the town much easier. The harbour in Torrevieja is still home for around 300 fishing ships and over 900 private sport boats; this makes for a beautiful view whilst the sun sets.

Due to the location of this area it has its own micro-climate, considered by the World Health Organisation to be one of the healthiest places in the world. This fact has attracted people from all over the globe to come and buy property here in the radiant sunshine. It has a cosmopolitan flavour which is reflected in the vast array of shops, boutiques, ale houses and local restaurants.

Murcia is located near the center of a low-lying fertile plain known as the huerta (orchard or vineyard) of Murcia. The Segura River and its right-hand tributary, the Guadalentín, run through the area. The terrain owes its varied character to the mountain ranges of the south (Cordillera Sur). The Region of Murcia is surrounded by two mountain ranges, the Sierra de Orihuela and the Cresta de Gallo. The city itself is divided into eastern and western zones by a series of mountain ranges (Carrascoy, El Puerto, Villares, Columbares, Altaona, and Escalona). These two zones are known as Field of Murcia and Orchard of Murcia. Near the plain's center, the steep hill of Monteagudo protrudes dramatically.

Murcia has a hot semi-arid climate with Mediterranean influences. Given its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, it is commonly referred to as a "semi-arid Mediterranean climate", with mild winters and warm to hot summers.
